Very poor build material and will fall apart if you move it. Its a decent bed if you put a lot of extra hardware to secure it. Puts lots of metal braces and extra screws on things and its an ok deal for the money. But if you ever try to move, that composite board will break down.
*June 23, 2012 Update - Watch out for leaving drawers open on your side of bed! A well placed foot will destroy one in a heartbeat. Still a great bed otherwise.
Assembly requires patience and attention to detail. Drawers will not align at all if frame is assembled incorrectly or not aligned into a perfect square (pull/push any corner). Once properly positioned, drawers inserted and king sized matress layed down this thing does not budge at all.
Correct assembly of the drawers is key to align them properly; a straight frame wont matter if the drawers themselves are slightly crooked. Also, this is not a piece of furniture meant to be moved often. Removal of the matress and drawers is recommended if moving by self for cleaning/aesthetic purposes.
Negatives: Included instructions are rather vague and require special attention to the pictures more so than the verbatim. The kit includes only the exact ammount of small hardware pieces needed and no extras. It is recommended to set these aside within their own area.
Overall, with a Sleep Innovations 12inch king memory foam matress and taking advantage of normally empty space for storage this bed is the flag ship of any bedroom.
We bought this bed after the bed we had originally purchased was discontinued. The assembly directions made it very easy to assemble and was a Sunday project my husband and I could do together. The only cons I would have is that there were a few scatches on the head and foot boards that were easily covered by a dark brown furniture pen as well as the bottom of the boards as you could see the particle board a little, again the furniture pen covered it easily. Also the drawers at the head of the bed are kind of worthless if you have night stands as you would have to move the night stand to open those two drawers. I would have also liked deeper drawers but for the price am not complaining.
My husband and I ordered this for our new place. At first, the bed was great. We were giving it time to expand and settle in. The boards underneath, the platform part, are now becoming a hassle. The boards are far too short to extend from one side to the other as intended. Everytime we get into bed, one (or more) of the boards comes loose, making a loud popping, wood splitting sound and we have to get up and rearrange the boards. Sometimes this works and other times we get back into bed and it happens again. I understand they are probably shorter to make assembly easier, but at least make them long enough so a person can be comfortable and not constantly fixing.
I put this together with a little help from my fiance; the instructions were clear and not hard to follow. We followed Mr. Zieglers additional instructions and have had absolutely no squeaking, shaking, etc. The bed is very sturdy and was not too difficult to put together. Ordered matching headboard and it looks very nice in our bedroom. The drawers slide in and out easily. One of the platform boards was a little warped but this ultimately had no effect on the bed.
A few recommendations, though:
1. Youll want to have a cordless hand drill to help with the large number of screws. Doing it by hand is possible but would take forever.
2. Wear gloves when dealing with the platform boards-they are not finished and I kept getting splinters.
3. If you cant find the felt tape (as Mr. Ziegler recommends-lady at hardware store acted like I asked for some rare, little known item), the tape that people use for window insulation works just as well.
4. Make sure you have plenty of space in your recycle or trash bins for the packaging-lots of cardboard.
5. Youll need to open all three of the boxes to get started-the instructions were in one box, the screws were in another, and the wood parts you start step one of the instructions with were in the third box.
A pain in the ss to put together. One part was terrible because you had to match up screws and other hardware (forget what theyre called) and it was nearly impossible to match up. Ended up cracking a piece off one of the boards. Had to gorilla glue it. Looks very nice, but I wont be buying brand furniture again.
It took my husband I several hours to put the bed together. If you follow the directions are good at interpreting drawings, it should turn out ok. The holes were aligned well for the hardware to be installed. Weve been sleeping on it for a couple weeks now dont have any complaints. The bed doesnt move around and there isnt any squeeks or rattles. The drawers arent made to hold much weight. Dont expect to store king size sheet sets or books in the drawers without the bottom of the drawers sagging. I think this bed is a good bargain for the price. We live in a 2-story house and could only get full size mattress box springs up the steps. This bed and a foam mattress allowed us to upgrade to a king size bed.
The wood is not high quality, but for the price I didnt expect it to be. It is very functional and nice to look at. It was easy to put together. I had a problem with the drawers where they sent me twelve left side cuts instead of six left and six right side cuts. However, with an email to the company including the parts that were missing and the order number, they sent them out no problem. This buy was worth it.
Hi.We love this bed.It was very easy to assemble, assembly instructions were so clear to follow. For years we have been using mattress with spring box,and I cant even describe difference of not having it.It is just amazing feeling, very peaceful sleeping, weaking up with no backpain. We highly recommend this bed,we love the extra storage drawers.

Poor quality, everything is high density cardboard material or compressed wood.

Nice bed for the money

Bed okay, somewhat irritating

Cheaper construction than
While the frame is nice and solid, the drawers feel like theyre made out of bulsa wood, and dont quite close all the way.
Looks great, not too hard!
