I have assembled many things in my lifetime. This enterprise genuinely altered my opinion of my capabilities, and never again will I order anything that says assembly required. The product was well protected in the carton. All the parts were included. The instructions were clear, and the hardware pictures fairly accurate. I laid the boards out according to the assembly instructions and began the process of putting it all together.
These boards were heavy, so I felt it would be sturdy enough, but the real problem was the pre-drilled holes and the hardware was off just enough that when I neared the end of getting the base completed, the screw split through the wood.
If you have tools handy, and know how to deal with such problems before they become a disaster, you might have more success. I however, am not such a person, so I sent it back to , and they were excellent in assisting me with the return...except I had to take it somewhere to repack and ship. I wanted my refund, and didnt trust my own packaging at that point, so it was worth the money to have someone else do it. refunded me in a timely manner, and provided me with a shipping label, so the cost really was just to have someone else repack it.
Pros: Materials seemed sturdy, instructions were clear, identifying hardware easy enough.
Return to was a smooth transaction.
Cons: Not a one woman activity. For those of us with no real construction experience, those predrilled holes are REALLY important. People who know how to work with these materials might have a better experience. The only other con: heavy boards-good if you keep it and use it; not so good if you have to haul them somewhere to be packed and shipped back.
High hopes dashed
