This chair is very, very firm. Assembly was about the same as any other assembly-required desk chair. The seat has padding, but it's very firm and supportive - you don't sink into it. The mesh back is also very supportive. If you need a soft chair in which you can fall asleep, this is not the chair for you. I'm 6'2 and currently weigh about 270 lbs and the chair supports me ok though probably just barely so.
I deducted one star because the headrest, though easily adjustable, is very wobbly. It's basically on a wide, flat plastic stick that is pinned to the chair via a plate that you attach with allen bolts. I have no concern that it's going to break or fall off, but it wobbles quite a bit, side to side, somewhat like an upside down pendulum. The total range of wobble is probably less than half an inch, but it's still quite noticeable. I've actually gotten used to it and don't mind at all, but feel it's important to let others know.
A couple other items of note - it is barely tall enough for me - wouldn't recommend it for people over 6' 3 or so. The lumbar support does not adjust up and down, only in or out via a knob on the back of the chair.
Overall, a very firm, not at all squishy, chair that supports a tall, heavy man.
