First let me say the bed when built is quite nice, does not extend its hinged in one place but they can be adjusted high or low however, it cant be undone without taking the bed apart, that being said you need 2 or 3 people, a good screwdriver, hammer, wrench they give, and allen key, it took 9 hours assembly time as be aware the bed is a sliegh slanting so pieces have to be assembled on an angle, some pieces are heavy, the legs on the bottom have to be screwed in there are no holes! And they dont go all the way in, if your an adult I would not recommend using this bed without a box spring, as the mattress slides low into the frame and there is not enough support, a box spring added does this bed wonders and gives you the support you need to rest comfortably, the design is nice, and expert assembly is NOT OFFERED EVERYWHERE, but all and all its a great purchase just a pain in the ass in some steps of building, I recommend getting furniture sliders for hardwood floors as the legs screws WILL STICK OUT, as for carpet I would a platform, had the bed a month, its sturdy, and supportive, and looks nice, I recommend 7box spring, 10inch mattress, enjoy the bed
